I started the Cto5K today! That stands for Couch to 5K, and it’s a basic training plan for people who are couch potatoes, and can train to run 5K in 9 weeks. I did this last summer and didn’t really think it would work, I had zero endurance at the beginning but I gradually built that up and the training plan really works! By the end of the 9 weeks I was running 5K in 22 minutes without taking a walking break, and it felt amazing!
Starting it again after so long was a bit tough, but a lot easier than it was originally. I am also in a much different head space than I was then, and I feel a lot more determined to get in shape.
You can find all the information on Cto5K here!
So I began with a brisk 5 minute walking warm up, then intervals of running for 60s and walking for 90s, for a total of 25 minutes. Altogether that was 8 minutes of running and 17 minutes of walking. This is the plan for week 1 (Mon, Wed, Fri) and I will be doing other exercise throughout the week. Next week it will be a bit harder!
